Waverly Belmont Elementary School Renovation and Expansion

Nashville’s newest Elementary school, Waverly Belmont Elementary, is on track to open its doors in the fall of 2015.

The historic Waverly Belmont School building, when renovated, will become the home of 600 kindergarten through fourth grade students from the 12 South, Belmont-Hillsboro and surrounding areas. Built in 1935, the building was closed in the late 1970s as a school building, before becoming a hub for Metro Schools’ Information Technology Department. Its renovation and expansion will provide an additional outlet for the booming 12 South area, allowing for more children to attend school within walking distance of their homes.

Last night, a community meeting was held at Metro Nashville Public Schools, detailing the plans for the school building, its expansion, and the master plan of the surrounding campus. Over 100 community members attended, and an energetic discussion was had.
