MCC Dedication of the Art Collection June 1, 2013

SAVE THE DATE  -June 1st

To Artists Included in the Music City Center,

The Music City Center (MCC) is nearing completion and we are on schedule for the installation of 100 artworks, including the 8 commissioned artworks, by April 30th. In fact, four of those are already in their new home.

The Mayor’s office has announced the grand opening of Music City Center for May 19-20, and also designated June 1 as a day for special recognition for our seven commissioned artists and the artists in the Music City Center art collection.  Mayor Karl Dean and Marty Dickens, Convention Center Chair, will host an invitation only luncheon in honor of the artists and individuals instrumental in building the Music City Center art collection that day.

A series of free events open to the general public will follow the luncheon and continue throughout the afternoon including guided tours of the MCC art collection. Each of our site-specific commissioned artists will be making a presentation of their artwork in two different sessions followed by a reception honoring all of our artists sponsored by Nashville Arts magazine.  The day’s events culminates in the highly popular First Saturday Art Crawl, with participating galleries open along Fifth Avenue (Avenue of the Arts) beginning at 6 PM.
